One kind word can change someone’s entire day!
BMMI was all smiles recently when the Group took part in the Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week!
Kicking off on February 9 to February 12, RAK Week is an annual, worldwide celebration of kindness. Employees joined in on all the goodness by sending thank you notes to those who deserved it, providing a helping hand to those in need and giving away sweet treats to employees, as well as throwing compliments in every direction.
In Bahrain, the HR team loaded employees with sugar as they sent around Cinnabon rolls, donuts and cupcakes to different divisions. Not to mention they teamed up with Bayader to provide a local orphanage with freshly baked cookies for all the children!
Bayader didn’t just help the needy, but they also celebrated RAK Week by offering employees 20% off their Valentine’s three-course meal and amuse-bouche! They were truly in the spirit of kindness!
The kindness didn’t stop there either. The Beverages team had a small internal competition where the best kindness stories won a City Centre voucher. However, even if you didn’t win, you got a lunch or dinner voucher! There was even a board placed on the BMMI Shops floor where anyone, including customers, could write a message displaying kindness.
The IT department also got in the spirit and the team got together for photo opportunities, thanking each other and those who have helped them throughout the year! They even received some cupcakes from YLP employee, May Taqi, who had a rotation with them last quarter. She thanked them for taking her under their wing and showing her the true BMMI spirit!
The sweetness carried through to the 15th floor of the BMMI Tower, where Shilpa Ajit also thanked everyone with a variety of treats from Lola’s Cupcakes!
In Sitra, many employees helped the cleaners with their daily duties, replacing the water at the cooler and helping move furniture around. A free lunch in the Canteen was also given out to all employees!
Alosra jumped the bandwagon where the different locations organised breakfast and lunch for their employees. Moreover, at our Food Production Unit, chocolates and thank you notes were given to all employees.
To wrap RAK Week up, all managers in BMMI Tower signed a big ‘Thank You’ note for Facilities Administrator, Ali Al Ameer to recognise him for all his hard work with the move. CFO & EVP, Support Services, Ammar Aqeel Alhassan, IT Manager, Aiman Alorrayedh, HR Manager, Mohammed Turaif, and Brand, CSR & Communications Manager, Yasmin Hussain, all wrote a message of kindness to Ali! It was a great way to end RAK Week and put a big smile on Ali’s face!
It wasn’t just in Bahrain that our employees were spreading the love. Across Borders in Gabon, our GSS team also joined in on all the fun! During the African Nations Cup Final weekend, GSS Gabon kicked off RAK week by organising football matches between employees at the Port Gentil Football School ground near the GSS Gabon office. Over 20 employees, their families and friends turned up to enjoy the game and support the team. The two 6-a-side matches, between different GSS department teams, featured an exciting penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw, and then a 3-2 victory with a nice goal from CS&S HR Manager, Greg White. Then a full 11-a side game that ended in a 1 - 0 win for the team in yellow hi-vis jackets. After the fun and games, the teams enjoyed soft drinks, and GSS Gabon HR Manager, Paulin Bouti presented a speech to highlight RAK week.
Not to mention in BMMI Djibouti, all employees gathered around to have lunch together at the warehouse. It was definitely something to remember.
Research has shown that humans are hard-wired for love and compassion and that’s exactly what was displayed from all our employees. Everyone truly lived our values of honesty, team spirit and recognition during RAK week and showed certain individuals that their hard work does not go unnoticed.
Doing kind things for your employees not only builds trust by recognising their achievements and support, but it also motivates them. After all, one kind word can change someone’s entire day!
Take a look at the pictures of people spreading the joy around the company…just because RAK Week’s over, doesn’t mean we need to stop spreading the love!
