A testimonial by Jaffar Al Asfoor, Vice President, Food Retailing & Production

Bahraini Jaffar Al Asfoor’s 18-year career at Alosra is perhaps the best example of the effectiveness of Alosra’s upward mobility programme. Joining in 1995 as a Chief Cashier when he was just 18, Jaffar was soon promoted to Marketing Executive, then Duty Manager, and then to the Project Manager in charge of setting up the Amwaj branch, a key turning point both for Alosra and Jaffar himself.

“This was the first store in our expansion, and leading that effort made me aware of the various project components that can go into such large scale projects, helping to make me a more rounded business professional,” said the father of three.

From there, he was promoted to General Manager of Alosra’s entire operation, and then finally to Vice-President, Food Retailing & Production at BMMI, where Alosra remains part of his portfolio. Along the way, he earned a Bachelor’s from University of Bahrain, and an MBA from University of Glamorgan, as well as having taken strategic business and leadership courses in the US and Europe.
