Alosra supports Alia School students
Alosra recently welcomed six differently abled students from the Alia School to receive real work experience on the shop floor!
The students, ranging from ages 15 to 26, were invited to attend training in various departments of the supermarket, such as the bakery and produce sections. They even worked with customer service, helping customers with pricing queries and bagging of grocery products.
Haya, Abdulla A., Ahmed, Mohammed, Abdulla K. and Ebrahim worked in Alosra’s Najibi Centre branch in Saar, every Sunday and Tuesday for 2 hours, for a period of three months, which began on 22 March.
The training programme is beneficial as it allows the students to acquire basic communication skills and helps them with day-to-day human interaction, allowing them to gain social skills. Not to mention, it allows the students to explore, while increasing their independence, responsibility and confidence.
The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which was evident by the big smiles on their faces whenever greeting a customer. They certainly fit into Alosra’s “fresh and friendly” image!
Alosra was thrilled to have them, as always, and enjoyed getting to know them personally.
A big thank you goes out to all students!
