Spotlight on your colleague, Yasmine Mohamed Ahmed
Our colleague, Yasmine Mohamed Ahmed, from BMMI Djibouti made a short visit to our Bahrain headquarters recently, where the Corporate Communications sat down to have a chat about her journey with BMMI.
This was Yasmine's first trip to Bahrain since joining the company in 2010, but it will definitely not be her last. In February of this year, Yasmine was officially promoted to Procurement Assistant and Customer Service Executive, where she will be working closely with the GSS Bahrain team. She described this step as "exciting" and expressed how much she loves the sense of responsibility and the "willingness BMMI has offered her to grow".
Yasmine explained that although she is visiting BMMI to be trained by the GSS Bahrain team in both procurement and customer service, it is also the perfect opportunity for her to visit her "extended family", as she put it. She spends over eight hours on weekdays with her colleagues in Djibouti and sees them as her family, people she trusts and loves to work with. They make her happy and she cannot see herself working anywhere other than BMMI.
BMMI Djibouti has just over 35 employees, and she believes that this is what makes them so close. She joined BMMI when she was just 22 and believes her growth and development, not just in her job, but also as a person, is partially thanks to her family at BMMI. Her love for her job isn't just apparent through the way she speaks about her colleagues, but also her willingness to try new things.
"I will be working as part of the GSS Bahrain team. I will have one post that focuses on sourcing products and another that focuses on customer service for the US navy. I am so excited to be here and to receive training. I am always happy to learn new things, it comes with the job. Another exciting thing is that I can finally put a face to the people I have been speaking with."
Although she admits being in a new country is exciting, she believes Bahrain is really not all that different from Djibouti. "It's hot and humid, something I'm used to! I like it here, it reminds me of home. The people are so nice and accommodating. Djibouti is really booming at the moment and our economy is slowly developing, so I'm seeing a lot of similarities between our two countries and that's why I feel so comfortable here! It's the same culture. I would love to see more of our employees from Bahrain come and visit us just to see the similarities…you're all welcome to come and meet the team."
