Yousif Salem, IT Network Administator, was recently nominated for a Winning Hearts Award by GSS senior management, after his excellent contribution to supporting BMMI Djibouti and GSS Ghana during IT support visits in September and October.

Yousif is a relatively new and young member of the BMMI IT team and had never visited sub-Saharan Africa before. He had to travel between the two destinations within a span of a couple of weeks. Yousif showed great initiative and team spirit in both his visits, gaining very positive feedback from the teams in both countries and carrying out a lot of tasks to help the teams during a very busy schedule, which included; completing IT audits for systems and hardware/software with teams and for all users, helping teams find solutions for IT issues raised in KPMG audits, training and supporting Vipin in Djibouti for new role looking after IT and building good communication links between BMMI and GSS teams for solving IT issues.

David Hanse, Country Manager for Djibouti, was impressed by Yousif’s friendly nature and professionalism, as well as his adaptability and willingness to help, and Yousif left a strong impression with his GSS colleagues. He has also followed up his visits with further support to colleagues in Ghana with files backups etc.
