Alosra Scholarship Programme
In line with our CSR Policy, Nourishing Life, and our commitment to positively influence the communities in which we operate, the CSR team was proud to support the revival of the Alosra Scholarship Programme. The Bahrain based programme will be dedicated to support the education of economically marginalised students that demonstrate good academic standing and the right aptitude to pursue higher education.
In order to make this initiative come alive, the CSR team reviewed and redrafted its supporting policy, as well as the process of awarding and administering the scholarship to ensure its fairness. The new policy was presented to the Alosra Charitable Foundation’s Board of Trustees who unanimously approved the revamp to kick-start the programme.
CFO and EVP, Ammar Aqeel AlHasan said, “The Alosra scholarship program aims to support promising students obtain undergraduate degrees or qualifications. This is an exciting initiative that creates sustainable value not just to sponsored students but also to our economy and society at large. Our aim is to identify and sponsor up to 30 students during the year 2016”.
As a responsible organisation, we recognise the importance of investing in education and creating shared value as the essence of any strategic CSR objective. This is also crucial in terms of identifying a future potential segment to fuel the country’s talent pool.
Applications will be gathered in conjunction with a number of identified charities and will also be open to BMMI employees’ immediate family members who meet the eligibility criteria. Students will be selected under the application criteria and assessed using a multifaceted scoring model. The shortlisted universities include the University of Bahrain and the Bahrain Polytechnic.
