The IMS team recently organised a lecture in Bahrain in honour of World Cancer Day. Presently, over eight million people die from cancer worldwide every year, out of which, four million people die prematurely (aged 30 to 69 years) (http://www.worldcancerday.org/about). Hence, World Cancer Day provides the ideal opportunity to raise awareness and raise the profile of cancer in people’s minds.
A representative of the Royal Bahrain Hospital visited our Sitra HQ and another representative from American Mission Hospital visited the BMMI Tower, to educate and enlighten our staff about the common factors behind cancer and the preventative measures we can take against the disease. The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, where staff had the opportunity to ask questions and clear any misconceptions or doubts they had about the disease. The event was highly educational and appreciated.
