‘Lose yourself in the service of others’
At BMMI, we always put our people at the forefront of everything that we do. It has always been the people genuinely driven by our Winning Hearts culture, who are accountable for driving the results and establishing tangible successes across all our business divisions. So it goes without saying that our employees are our most valuable asset and the main source of our competitive edge.
In order to mark the achievements of all employees across the Group, we would like to recognise the efforts of each and every one of you in helping BMMI move ‘from good to great’ - every single day. As we pay tribute to our accomplishments on the occasion of Labour Day (celebrated on May 1st), we will continue to exceed expectations when it comes to investing in our employee’s wellbeing, safety, development and enforcing a culture that is true to who we are and everything that we represent.
Nonetheless, we would also like to take this opportunity to further promote employee engagement, particularly in a new wave of philanthropy, corporate volunteering. As Gandhi once proclaimed, ‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.’
In this day and age, to thrive in the working environment can mean so many things. Different people are motivated by rather contrasting things. Nonetheless, we truly believe that the same mantra applies to our company.
As a progressive organisation, we truly believe that it is absolutely necessary for businesses and its employees to connect to their communities. Volunteering is a great way to find purpose and give meaning to your life, so even if it’s not part of work, consider getting involved because it will:
1-Help make a difference: Getting involved in a rewarding experience and feeling good by doing well is truly the best way energise your daily routine. This will also add much needed balance to your life.
2-Develop leadership skills: Volunteering can help you network and gain fundamental leadership skills that can elevate your professional life.
3-Open your eyes: Volunteering is not only a great way to discover new interests you never knew about, but it creates a ‘sense of purpose’ by helping you look at things from a new perspective.
There are several societies in Bahrain where you can become involved and volunteer such as the Red Crescent Society: http://www.rcsbahrain.org/en/
Don’t hesitate to share your suggestions with communications@bmmi.com.bh regarding setting up a volunteering activity, we would appreciate all your thoughts and ideas!
