GSS Sudan empowers women
With BMMI committed to addressing inclusivity in the workplace, and focusing on women empowerment, GSS Sudan is in the works of creating a more inclusive working environment. GSS Sudan joined forces with Ahfad University for Women to create internship opportunities.
Ahfad University for Women is the pioneer school for girl’s only education in Sudan as well as in Africa. The university was established by Sheikh Babkir Albadre in 1907. Ever since then, the school has been a major contributor in gender fairness, women empowerment, excellency, and social responsibility. GSS Sudan is hoping to encourage young ladies to build their path to success and feel empowered.
GSS Sudan Country Manager, Peter Zandvliet and Operations Manager, Kamal Daoud, visited the university campus with Assistant Operations Manager Omer Mustafa Elhadi and Operations Assistant, Mayada Khiri where they met with Dean Gasim BadrI. The team explained BMMI’s vision and how GSS Sudan would love to support undergraduates with the opportunity to put into practice what they are learning in their classrooms into the real working world.
Plans between GSS and the university were in the works and not long after Mayada and Health, Safety and Environment Manager, Hatem Nassif visited the campus once more where an internship plan was devised with the Management Faculty Manager.
“Meeting with the university was very fruitful and we set a plan regarding our training methods, coordination with the girls,” said Peter. “We put our feet on a solid ground and starting the training with the first group of young ladies in the company this month.”
Well done team and keep empowering women!
