Basel Al-Madani, General Manager of our Beverages division, recently received our Däl Riata Leadership Excellence Award for 2019.

The award is inspired by our Scottish roots and celebrates our journey from a humble shipping business to a dynamic, proud Bahraini organisation.
Basel won the award for his leadership, exceeding budget, contributing to the Group’s success and for implementing innovative solutions and initiatives that helped drive the business forward significantly.

“I am very honoured and humbled to be the recipient of the Däl Riata award. I would like to thank my team for all the hard work they do and for continuing to push boundaries and working hard. It’s their efforts that help us reach milestone after milestone for the division and I am very proud of each one of them. I would also like to thank my fellow colleagues in the management team and our CEO, Marek, for their continued trust, confidence and recognition,” said Basel.

Basel first joined BMMI in 2000 as a Sales Representative in the Beverages division before being promoted to a Senior Key Account Manager two years later, and to the Sales and Technical Services Manager in 2005. Two years after that, Basel became the Sales Manager, and in 2012, he became the Head of Sales and Retail. In 2017, Basel became responsible for the entire division and team when he was promoted to General Manager of Beverages. In 2019, responsibility for our rooftop lounge, Alto, became part of his division’s role as well.

Today, Basel continues to effectively lead the division by inspiring his team, overseeing key projects and constantly looking for innovative solutions to help the business expand, as well as grow its portfolio and customer base.

Basel took on the leadership role of Beverages in 2017, which is a hugely important and challenging division, and he has managed to excel in leading it, while inspiring his team and living our values every day.
