There’s no doubt that 2020 has proven to be a very challenging year so far, for all across the globe. The outbreak and rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to reconsider how we go about our day-to-day business, interact with one another and how our communities operate.

However, throughout these tough times, we’ve also seen inspiring examples of resilience, care, team spirit and dedication. As we suddenly found ourselves in tough and uncertain circumstances, we have proven without a doubt how our Winning Hearts culture and commitment to make a difference in all we do, truly sets us apart.

Our Board, leadership team and I, are full of pride at what our team continues to do every day in the face of the situation. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that all your hard work, dedication and commitment has not gone unnoticed.

To our frontline team, ensuring that we keep the community and our colleagues safe, while fulfilling our mission to continue winning the hearts and minds of our customers, we are incredibly grateful and full of pride for all that you do. From the Alosra and BMMI Shops employees serving customers in stores, to our security team ensuring everyone’s protection, our safety officers making sure we follow guidelines to keep us all safe and our IFM team, IT department, as well as our Finance and HR teams visiting premises to make sure we are supported enough to function optimally, to our drivers, loaders, packers, cleaners, warehouse teams, trade executives, essential office based employees, food producers and more, thank you for enabling the rest of the team to work from home and help flatten the curve.

I continue to be inspired by what I hear of employees stepping in beyond their daily tasks to take on other responsibilities where needed. The fact that not only does our team deliver on their expected duties but go beyond to support one another and our community makes me extremely proud to be part of BMMI. Serving others and lending a helping hand are part of our spirit, a great example of this is how the Alosra and CSR teams have rallied to support our local communities and those who are affected the most. Because of their unfaltering efforts, we are able to reach and extend our support to hundreds of families during these extremely challenging times.

The leadership team is also appreciative of how fast and efficiently our teams working from home have adapted to their new working situation. They have quickly ensured they found ways and routines to avoid disruption to our work without loss of usual levels of quality and efficiency.

From our frontline employees, to our remote workers and everyone team BMMI, we truly are better together. Thank you for all that you continue to do. I am so proud of each and every single one of you for continuing to make a difference every day, especially during these difficult circumstances.
