BMMI appointed subcontractor for USAID contract

Bahrain Maritime & Mercantile BSC (BMMI), a major regional Sales and Marketing, Logistics and Supply chain group in the Middle East and Africa, has been appointed as subcontractor to manage the receipt and warehousing of food aid and commodities for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Djibouti Free Zone in Djibouti. BMMI had successfully operated the same type of contract for 2 years, from 2007 through to 2009.

The contract, potentially valued at $10 million a year, is an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity award with a one-year base and four one-year options.

Through a teaming agreement, BMMI in Djibouti and Jacintoport International in Houston, TX, will support Agility Defense & Government Services (DGS) as prime contractor. Each of the three businesses lend their own strengths to the contract, with BMMI in particular providing the past performance, in-depth contract know-how, and a solid business relationship with USAID. BMMI also has extensive experience in providing contract-based consumables supply services for French and American militaries in Djibouti and the Middle East.

To support this and other governmental and commercial contracts, BMMI draws upon the Group’s comprehensive international logistics, supply chain, and procurement resources. These enable BMMI to offer seamless, integrated, and specialist solutions to meet the most complex and challenging needs of its clients.
