
BMMI celebrates fourth annual health & safety week
BMMI celebrated its fourth annual Health and Safety Week from the 21st to the 28th of April, concluding the event on the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at work.
The Group marked the event with a number of activities across it various divisions and businesses in Bahrain. BMMI partnered with Royal Bahrain Hospital-Medex for the event, who assisted with providing speakers who gave health and safety related lectures throughout the week at BMMI locations. BMMI also organized free medical check-ups for its employees and customers, to screen for diabetes, hypertension and obesity, also administered by RBH-Medex.
On the 23rd of April, BMMI held its second annual Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) conference, at the Al Bander Hotel & Resort, which aimed to educate employees about various HSE initiatives, laws and best-case practices. The event included speakers from the Ministry of Labour, RBH-Medex, Bureau VERITAS, STC Bahrain, Bapco and OSHO.
Through its fresh and friendly subsidiary, Alosra, BMMI also organised a mini-walkathon starting at Alosra Amwaj, under the slogan ‘walk for health and safe living.’ Around a hundred participants took place in the four kilometres walk and enjoyed a complimentary Alosra breakfast following the event.
“The whole week was a tremendous success,” said BMMI’s Integrated Management Systems (IMS) Manager, Suttish Boodoo, whose team was responsible for organising the Health & Safety Week. “We received a lot of positive feedback from employees and customers who were happy to learn more about health and safety. BMMI has always prioritised the importance of a safe and healthy work environment and overall wellbeing for our employees and I am grateful that we have the opportunity to continue and promote this, with full support from the Group.”
Various events also took place across the Group’s GSS operations in Gabon, Ghana and Sudan to commemorate the Health & Safety Week.
