BMMI group supports 15 Bahraini students through its Alosra Scholarship Programme
The BMMI Group launched its Alosra Scholarship Programme in September 2020 to financially support Bahraini students planning to pursue their higher education at the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic. The programme will fund each student over the duration of five years to cover university fees, as well as materials necessary to complete their studies.
On the 20th of January 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between BMMI and INJAZ Bahrain, a non-profit organisation focused on empowering young people and preparing them for their future. Through this partnership, BMMI were able to select from a pool of candidates who fit comprehensive criteria.
Joint interviews were conducted in September by INJAZ Bahrain and BMMI to evaluate applicants based on an extensive scoring model that took into account several factors such as academic performance, financial need and more. Fifteen students were determined to be eligible as Alosra Scholarship’s first batch of recipients.
“We are proud to partner with INJAZ Bahrain in order to support the education of talented Bahraini youth and ultimately help prepare them to best contribute to the future of the country’s workforce,” said BMMI Group CEO, Marek Sheridan. “The Alosra Scholarship programme was launched in line with our steadfast commitment to supporting education and youth, as well as positively contributing to the communities in which we operate.”
BMMI CSR Partner, Reem AlTajer added, “We are very pleased that eligible students have been identified for scholarships in order for them to further their education. I would like to take this opportunity to thank INJAZ Bahrain for their help and hard work during this process. We wish all the students the best of luck with their studies and we look forward to continuing our partnership with INJAZ Bahrain, enabling BMMI to continue to support young Bahraini talent.”
INJAZ Bahrain Executive Director, Ms. Hana Sarwani, stated, “We appreciate BMMI’s efforts and contribution towards helping our students achieve their goals and pursuing their higher education. The initiative comes in line with our mission to empower, inspire and prepare Bahraini youth to succeed in the global economy.” She also extended her gratitude to Mr. Marek Sheridan and Ms. Reem AlTajer for their continuous support and commitment to supporting youth.
Through its memorandum of understanding with INJAZ Bahrain, BMMI has committed to support a number of eligible students each year over the course of five years. The Alosra Scholarship programme will cover the costs for the duration of their programme in the University of Bahrain or Bahrain Polytechnic up to graduation, as well as materials necessary to complete their degrees.
